If you’re paying attention to the news, drug addiction is a huge problem in middle America. Recently, two parents overdosed on heroin then strapped their 4-year-old in the car to go for a drive nearly killing people. Another couple was caught overdosing in a car wash parking lot. Heroin and other drugs are a big problem right now.Online Motor Insurance Quotes
But one Reddit user has given people new hope. She is a former heroin addict who has just shared a series of photos designed to inspire others struggling to beat the addiction.Online Motor Insurance Quotes
The first photo is of a 24-year-old woman who is believed to be from the United States. It is a police mug shot that shows her grey, blemished skin, greasy hair, and overall unkempt look. She is a heroin addict and has a vacant look in her eyes.
But just 836 days after this police mugshot was taken, things have turned around completely. Now she has a bright look in her eyes, hope for her future, and best of all, she is free from the stranglehold of heroin addiction.
The photos shared on the site have gotten more than 6,400 upvotes and over a thousand comments in just a few hours after being posted.
Because of the positive response, DisregardThisOrDont decided to reveal a little more about her story and heroin dependency.
Her turnaround started when she was sent to jail on June 11, 2014 for 36 days on a contempt charge.Online Motor Insurance Quotes
“Without delving too deep I’ll just say that I was in a really abusive relationship that led to my daughter going to live with my mother,’” she wrote. “She is my whole world, so when that happened I fell into a deep depression and leaned to my abusive boyfriend for emotional support.
“He found me in contempt of court and put me in the county jail until he could find me a bed in a rehab. From there I went to the best rehab in my state.
“Recovery has been an uphill battle, but now I am at a point where it all just feels like a bad dream.”Online Motor Insurance Quotes
She knows some people will learn about her past but that’s okay because she made it through the “circle of hell” and is on a better path now.
“When I found my mugshot I felt so bad for that girl. I wanted to hug her and tell her it will get better,’ she explained.
“I then realized that girl is still out there somewhere. She isn’t me anymore though.
“There are other addicts out there who are in the same circle of hell that I was in in that mug shot. So even if one of those people see this and get their s*** together, then it was worth it.”Online Motor Insurance Quotes
